'To protect their own lives and people caught in the unrest, US police would respond with deadly force if confronted by violent rioters like those operating in Ukraine, Chuck Joyner, an ex-CIA and FBI agent told RT, sharing his professional assessment.

RT: Footage of the violence in Kiev has been broadcast around the world. As a consultant to law enforcement on the use of force, how would you react in such a situation?

Chuck Joyner: The videos that I saw were very disturbing, and the police officers, in my mind showed incredible restraint. In the United States, in that situation, they would have been just fine using deadly force. '

Well that was a rather depressing. I like reading you Neil as it is an opportunity to get a quick grasp on an alternative viewpoint. However whilst you do well in exposing willful ignorance (lack of highlighting the Fascist presence) you as ever just trot out your own wilful ignorance and biases. hey ho, I suppose you are fun but if I was you I would ask myself why are RT calling on me? Surely they have access to people with an in-depth knowledge of Ukrainian politics, who are on the street in Kiev can speak to the protesters or government in their own langauge. But instead they come to you. Seems an odd choice to me but one that if you investigate may not lean to good answers. Or maybe you know why they use you, but you are happy to go along.

I don't say this to be nasty I think you seem like a nice guy and your take on things are of interest, I just don't think that wilful ignorance is really a good use of your time.

cartoonist Steve Bell shows us how even those who youd think should be aware of events are not"

Medialens wrote to Bell:

Hi Steve

Regarding this week's cartoon on Assad's 'selfie', are you not at all sceptical about the timing, accuracy and provenance of the recent report on Syrian government killing and torture? You'll know that the report was commissioned by the Qatari government which, according to the Financial Times, has bankrolled the 'rebels' to the tune of $3 billion in weaponry and other support.

Isn't it obvious that Qatar timed the release of the report to provide an ideal backdrop for media discussion (cartoons included) of the Geneva II peace conference? Should that not encourage a little caution and scepticism?

Sincerely

David Edwards (January 23, 2014)

After an emailed nudge requesting a response, Bell replied:

Dear David Edwards
I'm quite aware of the role of the Qatari government in the Syrian disaster, just as you are well aware of the record of the Assad regime's security apparatus. Timing is important, as is the need to keep our eyes open.
Best wishes
Steve Bell (January 24, 2014)

No doubt many Guardian readers would consider it Bell's job to lampoon instant acceptance of questionable propaganda, and indeed stonewalling replies of the kind he sent us in response to our questions.

what is it about the media esp the brits that make them so impervious to the facts: that syrians support their army....

here a british journo(you can tell by the accent!) questions a local who thanks the SAA for their help and when the rattled and incredulous british journo asks :But look at your city! ...says : this is the work of the 'rebels'
www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Pj_CT51DbM‎

this shows in a nutshell the problem: the foreign(ff'N)media is fixed on one story: that SAA is destroying syria...not the insurgency...syrians know better

Yesterday’s leak of the flagrant telephone talk between the US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and the US Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey R. Pyatt has already hit the international media headlines. In short, it turned out that the US officials were coordinating their actions on how to install a puppet government in Ukraine. They agreed to nominate Bat’kyvshchina Party leader Arseniy Yatseniuk as Deputy Prime Minister, to bench Udar Party leader Vitaly Klitschko off the game for a while and to discredit neo-Nazi Svoboda party chief Oleh Tiahnybok as “Yanukovych’s project”. Then Mrs. Nuland informed the US Ambassador that the Washington’s hand by the UN Secretary General, Under-Secretary for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman had already instructed Ban Ki-moon to send his special envoy to Kyiv this week “to glue the things”. Touching the European role in managing Ukraine’s political crisis, she was matchlessly elegant: “Fuck the EU”.

Dear Sir

I cannot believe the ignorance you show on your thoughts/comments on RT regarding the protests in Ukraine. The protestors are a cross section of Ukrainian society and not just 'neo-nazis'. Ukrainians are sick of the corruption in Politics the stealing of the countries resources by them and most of all they are sick of Russian influence. While it is there they will never lead a 'normal' life. I believe Ukraine has never really been independent because of the interference of Russia. You really IMHO come over as a stooge for the Russian propaganda machine. Well said Ian.

I want to assure You, that I was seeing in european news is a lie.
Nobody shows a people, who now try to protect their cities from new extremist government. Much of west ukranian cities creates civil militia to protect public institutions and monuments.

I found one video resource with everyday live broadcast:
