A very Happy Burns Night to Jock McTrousers, Martin Kelly and all other commenters and readers of this blog from North of the Border.
To celebrate, here's a classic clip from Dad's Army, the episode in which Captain Mainwaring demonstrates surprising skill with the bagpipes.....
They don't make comedies like this any more, more's the pity.
Enjoy!

My mother was a member of the Dallas chapter of the Daughters of Caledonia, and I have attended a number of Burns Nights in my time, but it didn't show up on my radar this year. Thanks for reminding me!
Hi Douglas!,
you've still got time to go out and get a haggis!
All best,
Neil
Thanks Neil, though I've actually lived in London since 1980
I took a picture of the plate of haggis, neeps and tatties I had when I was in Edinburgh in 2006, and posted it here, along with some Burns poetry and music.
The whiskey-onion gravy helped the haggis go down, in a most delightful way.
